As a part of the Memphis Bar Association’s Law Rules program, Assistant Public Defender Josh Spickler visited the optional students at Douglass High School last week to talk about the importance of the rule of law and the challenges of indigent defense.
Along with Optional Program Coordinator Kerrith Griffin, over 50 students and a few faculty members participated in a healthy dialogue about the foundations of our democracy and the unique nature of our legal system.
Douglass is a High School of Public Service and Communication Arts. The optional students are challenged to give back to the community and are already quite proficient at getting out their message.

For instance, the visit was well-documented by student photographer, Michael Harris (both photos are his), and the students took an active role in the presentation. It was a lively discussion!
